Rollie's Laugh

Well, Rollie had his first real laugh yesterday! I caught him in a good mood (he had just recently pooped through all of his cloths) and I had the camera handy. I thought I'd share how cute the little guy's laugh is.

As you can tell he's got a really sweet spirit. We are blessed! He's cute like this most of the time AND he sleeps through the night most nights. He does have a rough time at about 10 every night (Poor Daddy), but for the most part he is a doll.

sleeping baby, happy doggie

Oh what a beautiful thing it is when the baby sleeps through the stupid mutts' barking. The dogs have been on one for over a week now; Cady sleeps in then spends the rest of the day being a cranky b... female dog, Fritz barks from 6:30 am til about 10:00 when Cady wakes up, and Mars is still a klutzy puppy with a penchant for stealing burp cloths, shoes, and one of anything that is part of a pair. The dogs didn't appreciate being left behind while we went to Arizona for Demya's interview in Chino Valley, and job fair in Tucson. During the four days we were gone Cady pouted, Fritz moped, and Mars dug a hole in the wall. Luckily, life is returning to normal for everyone.

Interviews

So I have a music education degree. I didn't get h
ired last year for various reasons, but that turned out okay because now I have time to take care of my Rollie. However, the family needs a steady source of income, so I need to go back to work in the fall. This does not break my heart at all, I finally be doing what I always wanted from the very start of college and I'm existed to try my hand at directing bands. I LOVED my student teaching, I hope that I will find a position like that one.
I'm starting the interviewing process this week and to tell the truth I'm dead scared. A lot has happened in my life since last May and I don't know if I'm going to come off as passionate or as knowledgeable as I was then. I haven't really thought about music, teaching, or pedagogy since my recital in June. Mom says that when I start to talk about it and the reality of the job prospects sets in that the passion will come back, but I'm a worry wart.
Wish me luck this weekend at Chino and in Tucson!!

Camelsnot

Today has been an adventure in the joys of parenthood (i.e. screaming baby, copious amounts of "cottage cheese", and suctioning beautiful yellow boogers out of the sinuses of said screaming baby.) At least if they're screaming, they're breathing. On the bright side, I, Benson, got to work today subbing for a Biology class at the Northwest Career and Technical Acadamy (where my mother-in-law teaches) and subsequently missed the post-7am pre-1pm hysterics, after that not so lucky! Good thing Rollie has such a sweet personality and is normally an absolute keeper or we would have traded him in for a newer model. As it is, he's asking for a refund and saying he didn't sign up for all the crap I've done to him today.
¡Ã“jala, tomorrow will be better!

My first blog

I have never been much of a on-line communications person, but since I have so many people that want to watch my son grow up... I thought I'd try to be domestic.
This is our family I'm Demya Peterson Murdock. I was born in Fort Defiance, AZ, but I was raised in Las Vegas.
Roland Benson, my husband, goes by Benson, He was born and raised in Salt Lake City. We met as music people at Weber State University in Ogden, UT. Benson plays the guitar and I play the french horn. We both graduated last year Benson with a BA in Spanish and I have a music education degree.
We have a dog that we rescued named Cady. She received her CGC certification last May and we are very proud of her.

We recently welcomed Roland Jack (we call him Rollie) to our family. We are curently living in Las Vegas with my parents.
